Nostalgia Rock

Seven Friends on Nostalgia Rock

Watching thoughts
like a reel of life passed
time gained and lost
in the sea of living
deeply

I stood
high atop
Nostalgia Rock
the hands of my watch
suspended
a flashback
to a decade past
takes me back

I’m changed

though
the scene remains
the same
Chocolate Mountain
the valley serene
rocks sand and trees
an oasis reflecting
a different me

These
long-haired
eyes and ears
see and hear
a different song
sung in tune
with
walking on

I saw what I’ve become
wars waged
battles won
thoughts and actions
done and done

friends come and gone

My heart opened wide
to send them love
I was at peace
a stillness broken
by a howling breeze
hissing through
Joshua Tree
leaves
a coyote call
reminding me
I’m in the desert

Free

It’s good to reminisce
to return to this space
higher than I’ve been
may my own life’s
leaving
follow an upward trend
until it sweetly ends
and begins
again

Thank you for grasping the experience of growth and change, moving on while respecting the path that has brought us to the present and being able to convey that to others.
    beautiful.

So true, Marilyn. So much depth there … and so much joy in who and where we are today in every way.
